Description
This newly developed Workplace 11 course fully meets the learning outcomes for the new BC Curriculum. This course is aimed at students heading straight into the workforce after graduation, or for those intending to pursue an apprenticeship or trade.
This course was specifically designed to break topics up into manageable sizes in order to help students of all ability levels and backgrounds be successful in secondary math.
Online lessons are video-based, and students have complete control over the pace at which they learn—lessons can be paused, resumed and repeated. Examples have video, or step-by-step solutions.
Workplace 11 is organized into the following units:
• Unit 1: Graphs and Change
• Unit 2: Investing, Borrowing, and Debt
• Unit 3: Personal Finance
• Unit 4: 3D Objects
• Unit 5: Surveys
Students will be assessed with a mixture of assignments, tests, and projects. Each unit with a supervised test has a practice test similar in length and style to the real test to help students prepare.

Delivery
Student-paced – Students are asked to complete a schedule for themselves using the built in scheduler as one of the first activities in the course. This will give students the big picture of their commitment and progress towards completion.
Summary
Students are assessed through assignments, projects, practice tests, and tests. Students will be given specific feedback on their strengths and how to improve in the course.
There are 2 supervised unit tests in Workplace 11. Each test is intended to take roughly 1.5 hours. These are supervised using an online supervision software called Integrity Advocate which runs from directly within the online course, so students are not required to download any third-party software to their computers. Integrity Advocate supervised tests require a computer with a webcam and microphone.

Support
The lessons are designed to be completed independently, however we recognize that there will be times when students struggle with certain concepts, so teachers are available to help students by telephone, e-mail, or online virtual classes.
Materials
Students need access to a computer with reliable internet access, a webcam and microphone, a printer to print notes and assignments, a scanner (or mobile phone scanning app such as Genius Scan) to scan student work that will be submitted online, a scientific calculator, and a ruler. Some assignments will also require access to a digital camera, like a phone camera, for taking photos and recording videos. Others require a tape measure that can measure in both metric and imperial units (or separate tape measures for each).
All assignments must be submitted electronically.
