Elementary Enrollment

Who may register with SIDES?

  • Children must be five years old by December 31st of the year of registration to enter their first year of school (kindergarten).
  • Any school-age student residing in British Columbia. Students must be Canadian citizens or landed immigrants.
  • Residents of British Columbia who are traveling or living outside British Columbia are eligible to register with SIDES, but the student, parent, or legal guardian must show evidence they are "ordinarily resident" in BC.
  • parents may register their child as a "home-schooled" student with SIDES. For more information, please visit the Ministry of Education web site.

Students in grades 1 through 9 registered in another BC school may take a course or courses with SIDES. The registration form must be signed by the school and the school will be billed for the course(s). Parents must take the registration form to the school for signing. (Only Math is available at the grade 1 to 4 level.)

Grades 1 through 9 in-school registrations (billed to the school):

  • Paper courses: $300
  • Online courses: $500

Below is the application process. Please note that ALL steps must be followed.

Step 1: Register for the course.

Grades K to 9 complete the SIDES Online Application For ElementaryStudents.

If you do not wish to register an elementary or grade 8 or 9 student online, you may fill out our online request form and we will send you an up-to-date registration package to help you make the right choice. Or, you may print and complete the following pdf form and get it to SIDES by mail, in person, or by fax.

Step 2: Call to make an appointment with a SIDES K-9 teacher.

  • For kindergarten to grade 9, call 250-479-7125.

    Step 3: Bring the following with you to SIDES:

    • Withdrawal slip from the student's previous school, if applicable.
    • Proof-of-standing in previous educational programs. Students should attach a copy of their transcript or most recent report card.
    • Birth certificates (required for registration).
    • A completed registration form.
    • Payment for book deposits and/or resources. SIDES accepts Visa, MasterCard, Interac, or cash; we do not accept personal cheques. Book deposit for each student residing in BC is $150, to a maximum of $300 per family. The deposit is returned when the books and/or equipment are returned in good condition. Deposits for students travelling out-of-province is the cost of the materials.

    After all the steps have been completed and the student is registered, the course materials will be mailed or held for pick-up according to the arrangements you make with the teacher.
