Description

Biology 11 is an online, media-rich course designed to meet the new BC Biology 11 Curriculum (2018). The course offers interactive lessons, a variety of guided activities, assignments and labs, and rubric-based assessment.

This course consists of several units. These include Evolution, Classification, and Diversity of Organisms. There is an extensive overview of major groups of living organisms. Labs are completed on-line and involve dissections, microscope work, classification studies and research.

Summary

Biology 11 is a self-paced course and students can begin throughout the year. Students are expected to finish their course within a one-year period.

Evaluation

Students are assessed on a variety of assignments in each unit, including labs, learning guides, quizzes and other activities. Assignments are submitted electronically through the course assignment folder to ensure prompt feedback. Most assessments are rubric-based.

Each unit is worth 12.5% of the student’s final mark.
