Description

Tourism 12 is a four-credit course comprised of four units: Travel Planning, Tourism Operations, The Business of Tourism, and Tourism Industry Experience. Although there is no textbook associated with the course, a variety of online resources are incorporated into the work of Tourism 12. Assignments may be presented in a variety of formats and are submitted on line. All work is practical, yet engaging. Students exchange ideas through asynchronous discussions. These conversations are lively and appealing. Certificate and work experience opportunities are available.

Unit 2: Tourism Operations

To understand the role you might play as an employee in a tourism workplace, you should understand how various systems work and how the parts are interconnected.

Unit 3: The Business of Tourism

This unit introduces you to the importance of numeracy skills in the workplace. Don’t worry, this unit isn’t math instruction!  You will also be introduced to company policies and procedures.   Are you a natural entrepreneur?  You will find out in this unit.

Unit 4: Tourism Sector Experience

In this unit you will have the opportunity to practice and demonstrate your skills, attitudes, and tourism knowledge.  If requested, you may receive credit for your work experience (4 credits for every 100 hours worked, up to 200 hours).
