Description

English 12 First Peoples is an academic English course which can be taken in place of English 12. English 12 First Peoples Online is an interactive and engaging course with an emphasis on writing, both in expository and creative forms, and on the study of First Nations literature. There is a strong emphasis on the development of writing skills.

The course is literature based. There are five units:

Unit One: Storytelling
Unit Two: Novel Study (Keeper ‘n Me)
Unit Three: The Trickster in First Nations literature
Unit Four: Drama and Film
Unit Five: Poetry

Unit Three: The Trickster

Assignments: concept map, comparative essay

Midterm Exam

Unit Four: Drama and Film (“Only Drunks and Children Tell the Truth” and “Rabbit Proof Fence”)
Assignments: Personal response; creative project
