Description

English 11 First Peoples is an academic English course which can be taken in place of English 11. English 11 First Peoples Online is an interactive and engaging course with an emphasis on writing, both in expository and creative forms, on speaking, and on the study of First Nations literature. There is a strong emphasis on the development of writing skills.

The course is literature based. There are four units:

Unit One: Short Stories
Unit Two: Poetry
Unit Three: Novel Study
Unit Four: Drama, Essays, and Speech

Assignments: Writing in expository and narrative forms; discussion postings, informal speaking assignment, interview, text and image assignment, quiz.

Unit Two: Poetry
Genres: Poetry, songs
Assignments: poetry writing, augmented poem and essay, quiz.

Midterm exam

Unit Three: Novel Study
Genre: Novel
Assignments: expository writing, book review, charts.

Unit Four: Drama, Essays and Speech
Genres: Drama, Essays, Speech
Assignments: Small creative assignment, persuasive essay and speech.
