School age students need to be at least 15 years of age and are usually in grades 10, 11 or 12.
Adults (over 19 yrs) can use one Work Experience course as part of the Adult Graduation Certificate and should consult any one of the School Counsellors at SIDES.
Work Experience 12A (WEX 12A or WEX12B) are each 100-120 hours of work-based training in a co-operative partnership between the student, the school, and the employer. Each of these courses are worth 4 credits and contain separate content. Through work-based training, students observe and practice employability skills and learn new technical and applied skills relating to specific occupations or industries. Work can be volunteer (unpaid), or paid. The student selects their work placement attempting to match it with their interest and ability. The SIDES Career Counsellor may be able to assist with this.
