Description

PLEASE NOTE:
With the development and implementation of the new curriculum, we will be closing English Lit 12 effective June 28th, 2019. The last day to register for this course is November 15th, 2018. This means that you will need to complete the Orientation Course by December 17th, 2018. Once you have gained access to the remainder of the course, you will have until June 15, 2019 to finish the course. This includes all course material and exams. There will not be any extensions granted.

Join us in English Literature 12 Online, a course developed jointly by SIDES and Surrey Connect. We will explore some of the most significant literature in the history of the English language, reading selections ranging from Beowulf, a poem likely composed sometime in the eighth century, to poetry by contemporary writers such as Margaret Atwood. In between, we’ll explore the works of the best known writers of English literature, including Chaucer, Shakespeare, Milton, Swift, Pope, Wordsworth, Coleridge, Keats, Tennyson and Eliot. The lessons are designed so that you can read, listen to, learn about and study in depth the selected poems and prose in this course. We encourage your intellectual and aesthetic responses to the works studied, and offer a variety of assignments and activities to demonstrate your learning.

The course consists of six units and four tests.

  • The Middle Ages
  • The Renaissance
  • Hamlet
  • The Eighteenth Century
  • The Romantic Age
