Description

This is one of two courses that has been designed for students who want to upgrade their English skills. Each course has 3 units. Writing Basics covers learning outcomes related to writing sentences, paragraphs and essays. Literature Basics covers learning outcomes related to reading and responding to non-fiction, short stories and poetry.

Students will begin with an assessment test to establish the appropriate level placement and whether they need one of these courses or both of these courses. The placement test consists of skills that coincide with specific units of study in each course.

Upon successful completion of this course students will be able to meet with staff to assess the appropriate integration into a senior level English course.
