Career and Personal Planning
Grade 9
More on My Personal Life
Even if you do not have concerns about these topics all of them should be discussed with your mentor. You chose your mentor for very special reasons, and it is those reasons that will give you confidence in what your mentor has to say about various topics. Your mentor's guidance may be different from what you will read here. When in doubt trust your mentor first.
You should make sure to place a memo in your Student/Mentor log (with date and topic of the meeting) for all of the topics included in this section. If there are some topics your mentor is not comfortable talking with you about and the material in this course does not answer your questions, then e-mail your facilitator for guidance.
Wherever possible, we want to introduce the topics in this section by means of stories told by people of your age or a little older. These are real stories written by real people -- they are not made up. They are teenagers like you and have asked the same questions you are asking now. They have volunteered to help with this project because they want to help you avoid some of the problems they have had.
We are also going to link you to Internet peer counseling sources. Peer counselling is the process of teenagers helping teenagers. The sites we will link you to include important questions asked by teenagers with answers also provided by teenagers. This is a great way to get advice from people who are very near your own age.
