My Personal Life

[Teen Angel Image]

We told you at the beginning of this course that "This course is about you." This part of the course is really about you -- only you. Growing from a child to a teenager to a young adult involves many changes in your life. These involve physical (your body) and emotional (your mind) changes. Every person on earth has gone through these changes so we all know what you are going through. Adults have all experienced these changes but sometimes they forget what it was like. Therefore adults are sometimes difficult to communicate with because they have forgotten what it was like to grow up. The best thing you can do in these situations is say "OK, I'll cope -- someday you will remember what it was like for you, and be more understanding." So when adults do not understand your feelings and your behaviour, forgive them. Some day they will remember.

Forgiveness is one of the most powerful emotional tools you have.

In the "growing up" period, teenagers have many questions that they need answered -- that they need answered NOW. This section of CaPP 9 is designed to help you find answers to some of these questions. If you have specific questions, you can decide what areas to explore, but you should eventually look through all the sections. They may contain answers to questions you forgot to ask.

We don't intend to lecture you here. That never works. What we want to do is lay out the facts and then let you make your own decisions about a healthy lifestyle. Decisions we make ourselves are far stronger than decisions made by others.

Speaking of mentors, it is in this section of the course that the mentor you have chosen will be of greatest value to you. We cannot anticipate all of the questions and sometimes the answers will not be complete. When there are concerns about any of the topics in this section, discuss them with your mentor.
